I'm moving my alternator on my C5 road race car to where the AC used to be. The 2001-2004 C5 alternator is a little too large. It appears the LS2 alternator has a slimmer case but the same bolt spacing? Will it just plug in or are the electronics different? I'm getting conflicting info.
LS1/6 alternator - Case has a "gap" in it and is overall larger

Trying to avoid having to do this...

Because here it fits... and this appears to be a LS2 alternator
