Slow progress while I wait on the block.

Pulled the AC system, clutch master cyl, firewall weight (can't believe that was still there).

Finished wiring the gauges, no way to test it but it should be right, took notes when I pulled everything.

Also- God help me or whoever has it next if I die. There's so much wiring it looks like I'm diffusing a 1990's action movie bomb. Johnny Five had fewer wires.... oi.

Still need to knock out a few more loose wires and I'll be done, about ready to start putting gauges back in.

Cluster LEDs were ****. Gave it to a friend to solder some actual bright LEDs into the wedge bases.

Pulled the rear bash bar and battery. Bash bar is 2" too big for the PC oven at my usual place, have to try another. Battery system needs an overhaul after the overcharging alternater puked acid everywhere. Batt box and big batt will likely go in favor of a Braille and matching cage.

Back to waiting on deliveries.

Pulled the BMC, remaining hard lines, and got the first sheet of Reflect-a-cool onto the firewall today.

Feeling artsy fartsy. Soon.

Also opened up the windage tray bolt holes for ARPs, installed that, and headlights got their final polish before getting clear-bra'd.

not sure if you know, but windage tray is going to have to be trimmed to fit sikky oil pan, and if its a stroker motor I had to trim a little more to clear pan than what sikky said to. just a heads up before you do something nice with the tray and then have to cut it up, since everything else looks top notch

Thanks for the heads up. No stroker, just LS3 with matching tray.

Their instructions need updating. With the newer thicker pan lip, the tray no longer needs trimming Strokers are a little different though, lol.

Great build!!!! I'm just curious why you didn't upgrade to an LS2 chain dampener?

Thanks! LS3 chain dampener is different in design, that's the proper tensioner for LS3

I know that what you have is the factory correct one, but I changed my to the LS2 type due to some premature failures of the LS3 style. It probably doesn't make that much difference, but this is what I used one when I converted my L99 to a LS3. Here are pics. (sorry for the hijack, LOL)

There's been some reports on the LS3 failures, but nothing concrete or to a specific failure cause. Everyone had different mileage, setups, etc. I like the idea of it actually doing something vs. a wedge just stopping flippy flopping. It should work ok for our needs. If it fails, not hard to pop it out. One way to find out.
