Did you get the intake bolt situation handled? I used ARP stainless set. All worked as advertised. Not the cheapest, but will never rust and you can always count on them.

After spending most the weekend extracting two broken off manifold bolts in the driver head I was finally able to get the LS and trans ready to install for hopefully the last time.

Installed the flywheel you can see in this picture how I oblonged the torque converter bolt holes to mate to the older trans.

Looking good!

Just checking, but is that a 6.0 flex plate? I believe if using a 5.3 flex plate the spacer will go on the other side of the flex plate and keep starter alignment. Why didn't you use the factor 6.0 spacer?

Its the 5.3 dished flex plate and from all my research says it doesn't need a spacer behind it that I just needed the spacer to center the torque converter. This was a lot cheaper then having to buy the 6.0 spacer and longer bolts which runs about $70. The Pace spacer was only $35 after shipping.

I was thinking the same way as you and did it this way on my last build when I actually used a 6.0 flex plate. But on my current build I'm using a 5.3 flex plate and I believe that spacer does not go between the crank and flex plate when using a 5.3 flex plate because of the shape of the flex plate. It'll just go on the outer side to align the snout of the torque converter. I think the 6.0 flex plate is dished to fit the spacer. So with the more flat 5.3 flex plate the spacer is more of an adapter since it doesn't space the flex plate. I could be wrong since you've gone further then i have, but just thought I'd throw it out there in case you run into problems. Does your starter line up with the flex plate? It also appears that you've flipped the flex plate?

Yes this spacer is like you said more of just an adapter to align the converter. It slids inside the crank so it actually does nothing for the flex plate. Havent tried a starter yet I need to go pick one up. My 5.3 Flex plate is dished so it'll only go on one way. If I turn it the other way it hits the block.

Meant to post this last night to. Since the bell housing bolt that the dipstick tube usually bolts to doesn't exist on the LS I went to Home Depot and picked up a 3/4 one bolt conduit strap. With one of the bolt holes in the head and the route the tube runs it's almost like it was put there for this reason.

Got the trans crossmember reworked, painted, and installed. Had to raise the trans mount 3/4" so after I did that I added a small brace back to the cross member to help support it.

Then started getting the LS ready to hopefully fire off by the end of the month. Installed new valve cover gaskets, intake, and coil packs. Also sent the PCM off today to get reflashed.

What are you guys doing with the oil sensor behind the intake when not using it? I've been searching for a plug or sort but having no luck.

I've just left it there or even a broken one. Theyre often broken. You can't see it usually once it's assembled.

just figure out what the thread size and pitch is, and buy a plug for it. You can usually find one on ebay. I would actually run a pressure gauge from it, then you know if you are having any issues.

Good looking brace, I will be glad to get a trans back in mine and a brace built for it.

I found a turbo 350 instead of the 400. Hopefully it will be all the help I need for a while, that and a good stall converter.
