Race car has been at a friends house for awhile now while we were building the engine and getting the engine and trans into the chassis, so it has now finally come back home.

Looking at this photo though the engine gets lost, I think it needs a set of twin turbo's

Wow. Sounds like you dodged a bullet -err, grenade!

Got a question for ya though - If you make a 7.99-second run with that once it's done, what does that translate to in American ET???

Very nice project! Would draw the eyes to the motor with to big chrome tubos hanging off the manifolds!

Have you weighed it?

No I have not yet weighed it, once all complete and together I sure will be.

I expect 1600 - 1800lb

I would expect that beast to really run. My little LS1 5.7 in a 3600lb sedan runs 12s, the dragster should break into the 7s?

Awesome build! I would love to do something similar in the future with a 6-71 or 8-71 blower

Been tinkering a fair bit in the garage knocking out all the little jobs.

Taking the ECU to the tuner on Friday for a base tune so I can get it fired up and check for leaks etc prior to heading to the dyno.

So maybe a fireup on Monday/Tuesday!

More tinkering. Base tune is in, soooo close to fire up! Off to work for 2 overtime shifts, then hopefully fire up Tuesday

Throttle body mounted, throttle cable bracket and fittings 95% complete. Will have to fabricate a small extension off the ball joint to reach the throttle body.

Starter motor shimmed up to within tolerences, and right hand side pipes installed. Starter wiring hooked up.

And lastly a test fit of the floor to check it still fits with the new engine plate, and different starter motor and wiring locations

All fluids are now in.

Fixed afew leaks here and there as expected.

However I cannot get the fuel rails to correctly seal against the injectors with 60psi flowing to them!

So have had to order the Edelbrock fuel rails to suit the manifold (was trying to run with a set of generic ones)

Cool project! It makes that motor look small. I second the though of twin turbos hanging off the side lol

Excellent work man and very cool build. Never realized you were that exposed to the transmission and driveshaft.

Thanks and yeah, everything is a tight squeeze!

The tailshaft is enclosed in a 5mm think alloy tube, and uses couplers rather then uni's. The gearbox is all SFI rated casing etc.

So another delay. Looks like my converter was built incorrectly, I have 14mm of converter pull out which is not ideal at all.

In layman's terms, the transmission is not being connected correctly to the motor and I have no gears.

So out comes the transmission and the converter, to be sent away.

I swear there are things put in this world to test our patience
