would like to see pics of the cradle, how the engine is sitting in the compartment, clearances around the engine...etc...
so the 915 will handle the torque of the v8 just fine? Most of the conversions i've seen use the g50 or the 930 box for strength.
i've seen the 914s with the 901 and blocking 1st, but that's not ideal in my mind. I'll be curious to see the longevity you get out of the 915 box.

that's the main purpose behind using a 5.3 and not using a ls3. if you read the rest of my other build here on this board I have a 1993 911 with g50 trans lsx build going on as well. that car has a ls3. I have been in the Porsche business for over 30years and know all the positives and negatives of each gearbox and each chassis. do you have a 911? what year make and model? thanks for your input.
post script; as you state the 914 uses the 901 gearbox and they hold up decent as long as you don't overpower them. the 915 box is by far stronger than the 901. so a 350hp/350tq 5.3 will be no problem.

my billet motor mounts, old rubber Porsche motor mounts were rotten.

leaving the lm7 5.3 relatively stock. 315hp - 350hp max. the original Porsche engine in this car only made 180hp. and car would do 135-140mph depending on gearing with original motor. I am using a stock 915 with 8/31 ring and pinion with tall 5th gear. the gearbox has a lsd and steel intermediate plate. has a billet 7075 hd side plate for torque loads. should make a nice reliable fun daily driver with ac.

this is not my pic, but is a pic from the net of a stock Porsche 911sc engine installed in the car. this pic is just for comparison purposes. so you can see how small the lsx motors are versus the Porsche motor.

this car has my lsx to Porsche cradle in it, the 5.3 in it, all conversion parts in it, meziere water pump should be here today to tomorrow, the radiator is in it, but I have not cut the nose yet. I have not installed the coolant hoses, or the wiring/pcm. it is not far off tho. as soon as I finish up the 964 I will get back on this one. then the next one after this is already waiting in the shop, its a 911 dirt rally car project that will get a 5.3 with king nitrogen coilovers, and bfg all terrains, lifted 3" and will look like the 911 rally cars of the 80's.

If you decided to give away the car I'd be willing to come your way and pick it up. I'll even bring a 6 pack of natty light. lol
What would you guess the ballpark price range for this project would be?

with new wheel bearings, new shocks/struts, new brakes, rebuilt trans, nice interior, new paint, new tires and lsx 5.3 power, new cooling system, so on, so on... this car can be purchased for 25g.
