Default Ebay 4L80E torque converters??

Hey all,

Was floating around on ebay and saw a bunch of 4L80E torque converters for sale around $200. They just say "high stall" but don't make any mention of what it should actually stall at.

Wondering if anyone is running these parts and if they are quality converters? Compared to the high price of other 80 converters these look like a bargain but if they only stall ~200rpm higher they might not be worth the money...

Thanks,

Yeah, when you get up to 10" or smaller converters and 3,000+ stall, they get crazy expensive. A good billet one costs more than I paid for my car! I'm looking at a Hughes 2500rpm 25-25L for $570. That seems like a deal all things considered.

You can go eBay head studs (which I wouldn't but some had good luck) , eBay this & that but a quality converter is the life blood of everything to work properly. So save some $$ to get the better converter & be done with it or you'll be chasing after another converter & after another one & that cost $$$.
Thanks Garry

I overlooked Circle D before. Their 3,000rpm 11" street converter is only $500 plus shipping. There's some bang for your buck for a street/daily driver application. Not billet, not multi-disc lockup, but better than stock for sure.

That is the truth!!!

Honestly (not being a big drag racing participant so I don't need a crazy stall guy) I think 7 - 900 isn't insane for something like a stall that is custom built for your application if you think about how precise it needs to be.

What most people forget is how driving a car with a good stall changes your attitude on how they work. I've driven a few cars with cheap stalls which set my precedent for hating them, then a friend bought a nice one... whole new attitude on cars with stalls!

Holy **** ***** Batman! I never saw a $500 converter on CircleD's website. I'm going to have to look into these. My car sees track time a couple times a year but is mostly street driven. I'm only looking for a ~2500 stall that maintains lock-up function and behaves well on the street. I have trouble spending $1K on a converter when the whole trans only cost me $600 lol. Thanks for all the input...I'll stay away from the "converters from the unknown" on Ebay

That one there pictured is a 245mm, 4000 Stall, 4500 Flash RPM, Single Disc Lockup Clutch for street cruising, their 2E Stator.

The more slipping the converter does, the more heat it will make which turns right around in puts it in the Trans an burns the bitch up

I may have accidentally bought the 3000-3200rpm street converter today. Ok, maybe not accidentally. Just more debt I have to pay off I guess. Should work perfectly on my car for a cam only daily driver.

As for slipping and heat...that's what a good external cooler is for and using the lock-up when cruising.
