Default Need help with fuel hoses.

I am about to tackle a 6.0 swap into my 85GN and need help with fuel lines. I bought the Racetronix sender and pump, corvette regulator with AN fittings on both. Been looking at the Summit brand fittings but need info on what is the best fuel lines to use. Any input will help, thanks guys

Thats a nice kit, but its not what I will be using. I will be using AN fittings but don't know much about the different types of fuel lines but do like the steel braided lines that summit sells. Just want to see what everyone else is using.

Don't use the Summit fittings with any angle, only the straight ones. I've had a lot of the angled ones break, the tube they use is very thin and brittle.

I used the Russell Pro Classic. It was very easy to work with using the AN hose fittings. It seems pretty durable and is lightweight.

Default You need Ptfe lined hose

Try Pegasus Auto Racing, be prepared this stuff is not cheap but it's very easy to assemble and will never permeate with the smell of fuel.

Was planning to use the Summit ones with no angles, just seen all the different type of hoses they had and was confused since its my first swap and have no experience with the aftermarket hoses. But I did hear about some having fuel smell coming from there hoses and I really dont want that on mine. Yup Jon they are pricey to say the least thats why I wanted as much feedback as I could get before ordering any so I would have to buy them again once they are on. I have a week offshore before I go home andwanted to order soon so it can be there before I do.
Thanks Guys

Can you elaborate on the fuel smell issue. The fuel is permeating the hose? Or at the fitting? Through the part that threads into the hose? I have noticed fuel smell from mine but have never found any leaks. And when I park in the garage I get more smell. Thought it to be fuel evaporating out of the carburetor. Thanks.

I will never use the Summit Fittings. I tried them.. very badly made.. the threads would strip out and never seat.. I returned every one and bought all Russell's...

Almost any of the Name brand SS Braided hose will do as long as your not using E85. but I would not cheap out on the brand myself. I use Russell brand myself.. SS Proflex hose on the Chevelle and Proclassic Hose (black) on the Nova.. both have CPE inner lining..

You guys must have had bad luck with fittings. I have been using Summit brand fittings for years with never a leak, strip, or broken fitting.

Damn I have not heard many bad things about the Summit fittings, but I guess they are a little cheaper for a reason. Anyways fittings are fittings, its the hoses I am confused about, seen some with inner liners and some with out, I am guessing the ones with the liners would be more durable and keep the smell from coming through? I have really bad internet on the rig here in Nigeria and it keeps blocking some sites for stupid reasons or they dont load at all sometimes, thats why I am relying on you guys opinions. Thanks again

To be Fair.. I was using Russell hose with the Summit Fittings.. it was possible that the hose is of a different (larger/thicker) than what a Summit hose might be. Once I pushed the hose on the fitting. .I was only able to get the nut to turn 2 maybe three thread and then snap.. the threads would strip out..(I did lubricate the thread).

We use all Fragola lines, fittings. First class stuff. Not as expensive as Earls/Russels.
The PTFE hose is all we use. A bit more $$ than the cheapo push on stuff, but worth it, IMO.

The liners are all compatible with gas so the type is just a preference, IMO. Some are more expensive than others. E85 and alcohol may require a specific liner so refer to the manufacture instructions.

Anyone please elaborate about the smell? Most hose has a liner of some kind so I can't believe it is coming through the hose. Is it from using incompatible fittings, mixing brands etc....

I used Jegs hose which is a Viton(rubber) hose wrapped in a black braid made for fuel injection and their fittings. I did have an issue with one 45 degree fitting after trying to loosen the connection. It galled and seized up so I had to cut it off and replace it. I've used a few Summit fittings too and they seemed fine with the Jegs hose. Other than than no issues except the smell.

Ok been looking at the Fragola stuff, good reviews and good price so I will go with that. Will I be ok going with -6 fittings and hose on the whole fuel system? The reason I ask is I was going through the emails of all the things I ordered and I seen that the ls1 filter/regulator combo I bought comes with all -6 fittings but the Racetronix sender comes with -8 feed and -6 return, maybe put a reducer from -8 to -6 off the sender?

Sorry Fox I don't have any experience myself with these aftermarket kits, hence all the questions
