LSX Powered DeTomaso Pantera Starts Up
Personally, the DeTomaso Pantera is at the top of my list of impractical super cars that were too stupid to live. The transaxle meant the car was noisy as hell inside, they were notoriously unreliable, prone to rust, badly built... They're just not good. But they looked fantastic. Also, they're Italian. If it worked like a Toyota, no one would've like it.
Originally they came with a Ford 351 in the back. That's great and all, but I think we all know what's better. This video was only posted last week, so I don't have any other details besides whats on youtube.
He says it's an LQ9 under the hood. Apparently nitrous and coilovers are on their way. Definitely a one-of-a-kind.

Nice…I always loved those cars. Super sexy styling.
Hopefully that intake is just for mock up purposes. Having the filter inches from the hot exhaust is going to rob you of at least 100HP…no joke. The LS engines are super sensitive to air intake temperatures and the computer will pull timing hard when the AIT get above 130-140 range. With your intake right there, I bet your AITs will be in the 200-250 range when you drive. No bueno…

Actually the IAT stayed way lower than even I thought, the headers and y-pipe are ceramic coated. They are going to wrap the pipes too though. I tried to get the owner to post but he's not a member on here

Whats up guys. I am infact really good friends with the owner(one who shot the video). It is a 6.0 LQ9 with a tsunami cam. The pipes are all ceramic coated so a lot of the heat will be dispersed. So it wont be as hot as some of you think. As of right now, we just finished putting in the new axles and brakes. If i have any more info ill post on here.

In my conversations with the owner and his son, I was told that eventually they want it turbocharged.
Either way the LQ9 is leaps and bounds ahead of the engine that was taken out.
I did the engine harness for this car. The cool thing is he kept it DBW and used a 10 foot long Accelerator Pedal Harness.
