I have a suggestion. Since it most likely damaged internally from the wreck that jammed the driveshaft up on the output shaft, why not take the transmission out of the car, take it to a transmission shop, and let THEM deal with it!! I would be safe in saying they have had to do it before is almost a certainty.
One other option is to drill out the center of the yoke after removing the ujoint, with the trans out of the car, stand it up on end and put it in a press. Use the press and a rod to push the output shaft out of the yoke by clamping to the yoke as close to the rear seal as possible. Just put a mat or something under the trans to break the fall once the yoke lets go. If THAT doesn't break it loose, you are majorly screwed anyways.

Drill and tap a hole in the center of a piece of bar stock that will fit in the holes for the removed u-joint caps.
Drill out a bigger hole in the back of the yoke
Insert the proper length bolt or rod into the tapped hole in your bar stock and crank down on it till it pushes the yoke off the output

Hey thanks everyone for all the tips. This weekend I should have some time to mess around with it again. The press out method seems like it would do the trick. this all started when I wanted to pull the yoke out to put a angle finder on the tailshaft to modify a th400 crossmember to fit.
thanks again everyone. Ill be sure to let you all know how it turned out. hopefully its not an all day event and I don't break anything. can't afford another tranny.

I had similar issue on a Kia sorento I was working on a few weeks ago. Had a major u joint and hanger bearing failure. Only thin left was the yoke stuck in tailshaft. Took me awhile to think about it and come up with a way... Friend said throw a chain around rear end and come-along it out. It worked perfectly. Put small chain through back of yoke in front of ujoint like a loop attach to hook on one side of come-along. Loop another bigger chain around rear end and attach to other hook of come along then get to ratcheting. Lay to side cause when it comes out, it coming lol...worked like a charm. No hammering no torch no making special tools. Gl
