In the second pic above, the one with the little box on it and the one with the eye conector on it need to go to battey power. They are the 2 hanging by the sway bar mount. The other one with them is the one that comes from the ignition switch to tell the starter to turn.

Ok, in the last pic, look at the throttle cable its "pointing" to all the wires with the circle connectors. They need battery +, they power the fuse box. Connect them together, connect a battery charger positive to them, connect negative to chassis, then test.

So my car does not have a grey connector on the wiring harness which goes through the firewall on the driver's side. It has a dark red connector with eight pins, but otherwise it looks identical to the grey connector you posted the picture of. It is disconnected in my car, which means it connected to the engine, since the only connectors I have disconnected went to the engine harnesses. I still suspect it was EDIS input to the dash and probably wiring for the gauges but I'm not positive.
The wiring diagram you linked is the EEC4 EFI system, you want the body wiring diagram if you can find one. The best one I found is here:
