LT1 T56 to LM7?

Hey guys
I had a 95 Camaro Z28 which was a donor car to my FC RX7. Things came up and we ended up trading that LT1 with an LM7. I believe the T56 from the LT1 would not be compatible with the LM7, is that correct?

I have seen LT1 to LS1 conversion kits, would that be the same as the LM7?

you are correct a t56 for a sbc will not directly fit an ls engine , in fact its best for you to find an ls specific t56 for your application

It will bolt up fine. The ls based engines have one less bellhousing bolt but it works fine you just need the right flywheel to make up the .400" difference between the two engines. There's the Sachs flywheel from oriellys for about 56$ or the McLeod 460535 for about 400$. Just make sure the flywheel matches.

The LT1 T56 is a different animal.
Do a search here and in the manual trans forums. You need to swap over an LS input shaft, etc.
Get an LS T56.

input shaft,mid plate,and bellhousing are different. its easier/cheaper to get a ls t56 in the long run unless you can do the work yourself.

^^^ what he said. Rockland standard gear makes a conversion kit. $400 iirc.

Thank you guys for the info. I am aware of the differences between the two and have seen the conversion kit...just wanted to be sure that the lm7 is completely LS based and can be considered one.
I can do the work myself, and also the LSx t56's in my area are really overpriced. If all of that is not enough, I did drive my t56 and know that it's not bad.

I will try to find an LS one though...if anybody in the Bay Area hasone for sale or trade let me know.
