The air is drawn from the underside of the radiator by two 3000cfm fans on the top side and exit via the duct out the rear. I've done a few versions of rear mounted radiators over the years and they work awesome.I built the radiator that started with a custom made 6mm fin height and 18fins per inch 900mm x 800mm core that is double passed the 2 spal fans have their own shroud that is 100mm off the core then the duct mounts over the top. I may have some more detailed pic's i can post if anyone wants to do a similar setup.

Truly amazing project! The radiator reminds me of a pusher diesel bus (with a slightly different orientation and the big scoop for air pickup you built). In the bus, MASSIVE cooling fan(s) do the heavy lifting on cooling without any ram air at all. There are no scoops even, just a BIG crossflow created by the fan. The air flow in those, even at idle with blow your hair back!

I'd like to see the detailed pictures, if it isn't a hassle to post.
thank you,
Doug

I'd be interested in the other pics or info if its not to much bother also. I'm doing a rear mounted radiator under the bed of a 33 pickup. I have a bunch of ideas but it will be a trial and error thing for me , I don't know what works or don't. I;m also using the 55gpm remote water pump. What did you use for the lines that run the length of the car if I can ask that? the car is really cool, Its the different stuff I like. Thanks Mark

Mark I used -12an in and out of the engine to a custom made water block (4 x -12 to 2 x -20) then -20 to the water pump. water pump to the radiator and back to the engine ii used 1 1/4" stainless tube(in pic below)
The filler and header tank are mounted in the trunk

Fans and shroud under the duct

I ran the 4 steam lines out of the heads to the turbo's then back to the water block on the side of the engine

Your radiator design is basically what I have been working on for my truck, I was thinking of duct work up from the bottom and out the top . I'm putting the radiator under the bed floor and don't want a 2or 3 inch deep bed. I think what I'm trying to do is going to be tough, the outgoing air will probably not flow out of the radiator and be stagnant so to speak. Maybe the flow down from the top is the answer if I can get the duct work sized down a bit. Thanks again Mark

Just be careful not to make the duct too small or you will restrict the flow of the fans.
I did mine with an anemometer and a high current power supply to check current draw with both fans running (72amps@13.8v as it turns out!) and the air speed through the core on the opposite side to the fans was 23.61mph@13.8v. btw I ONLY use Spal fans because I have tested plenty of oem and aftermarket fans with the same test rig (all fans tested drawing air through the same radiator core @13.8v) and nothing comes close to the Spal fans.... I hope this info helps you out
Cheers Darren

I wish it was finished! I only get work on it in my spare time... I build other peoples custom cars during the week so i'm not left with a lot of time to play with mine.
