Mounting coils directly to valve covers
Mounting coils directly to valve covers Holley, I believe, sells covers that mount the coils directly to the the valve covers to eliminate the ugly stock coil brackets.
Has anyone tried TIG welding alluminum standoffs to stock valve covers to mount the coils to clean up the appearance. I plan to eliminate the bulky coil harness too and connect each coil connector directly into the harness.
Thoughts?

I dunno...to me it's not just the bracket that is ugly. It's the coils themselves. I don't think eliminating the bracket will do much to change anything. You can relocate the coils, or you can get covers to cover them up. I went with the latter method...modified and painted some GTO covers
You would need to weld up the holes when the original bosses are removed, then tig on some new ones... quite a bit of work
I just relocated the coils to the back side of both heads and smoothed the stock valve covers. I like the clean appearance of valve covers vs. seeing wiring and coils over them.

I picked up the Holley covers not too long ago. Not sure where you saw them for that price but I got mine new for $160 w/the billet cap. But for my own curiosity, I'd like to see how the homemade ones turn out 
Here's a shot of mine installed. They aren't anything special but they do clean up the clutter a little bit while retaining a "stock" look.
