Keep us posted on this please. Im very curious to see how this thing will tune. If it goes well im gonna do it cause I hate the way my truck intake looks. Of course Id give you complete credit for the idea every time somebody asked me about it

One word. Freakinawesome. First time I ever seen a motor start with no manifolds and ive been hot rodding for almost 20 years. Im pumped. This thread has changed my ideas for my whole setup. Now I need to see if I can rig something up for a cable driven TB. Im using the FAST LS EZ EFI 2.0 and it wont work with the DBW.

My first thoughts were "This is stupid, welding a throttle body is going to warp the body and cook the electronics and shaft seals!"

But then you brought up a good point, if it fails, you are out $16!!

IF the welding does cause problems, but the concept of a truck throttle body as a whole works; I bet you could have a local shop machine an adaptor plate. It would fit the intake bolt pattern and opening, and fit up to the throttle body on the top. It would be a simple "2.5 axis" machining operation. Best of luck, hope this all works out and keep us up to date on the performance!

yeah i was worried the heat would destroy the electronics ,, but it didnt ,, it got real hott too .. ive thought about the getting machined peaice ,, but its so much less hassle just to weld it ..

I strongly considered doing a similar setup, except I would machine the spacer to make it bolt on - I woudn't want to risk the throttle ever sticking due to warp or damage to the electronics.

start with a gm tbi to 4 barrel adaptor plate .

this would get you a lot closer than how it was done by the original poster .

you can pull the electronics out before you weld it .. & we dynoed it today 520rwhp on 11psi .. excellent throttle response ..

Thats awesome. Good job man. Is it the same set up that you had before besides the TB and intake or did you add anything else?

Haha, awesome I remember one late night drinking way too much. We fired a sbc up on the stand with no manifolds. As soon as we goosed it the flames started the wooden post on fire holding the shed roof up. That was an eye opener.
