Best OEM parts for swap?
So I've got my L33 for my 93 FD3S RX7 project and it's coming along nicely. I bought the engine as a short block pretty much. Just the block with internals, heads, cam, and intake. I'm wanting to assemble it with mostly OEM parts for now and I've been wondering, what are the best performing, most reliable gen III/IV OEM parts? Which years had the best coils, exhaust manis, ps, and electrical components? Should I just source new aftermarket parts or am I ok buying low mileage oem parts? What really made me think about this is the other day I decided to price coils. I saw the msd coils and just thought I can't see myself paying $700 for a set of coils whenever I need so much right now. I figured my best bet would be to find the best oem parts from salvaged cars or people getting rid of them due to upgrades. Any advice would be great.
I don't think there's much difference in quality on any of it. I have never had to replace a coil with the exception of ones that got broken in wrecks or the junk yard carelessly pulling the engine. As for power steering pumps and things, just get the set up that fits your car the best.
As stated above the accessories will depend on which type of configuration will fit your vehicle. The Holley accessory bracket kits are top notch if that type of system will work for you.
