Alt to starter Cable recomendations ?

Alt to starter Cable recomendations ?

I need to buy a good positive cable to connect the alternator to the starter.

I do have the bigger 145 Amp truck alt. so I need something 4 Awg or better.

Any ideas on were to get a good quality one?

With nearly everything else on my custom vehicles... I make my own to fit the application. That way I can route it as I wish when things aren't in factory locations.

I bought some battery cables from Detriot Speed Eng. and they are by far the nicest cables I've ever had. I believe they are repackaged "QuickCar" I'd look into the gauge you want from them. FWIW

I make my own as well. I use welding cable and Napa has a great selection of copper ring terminals.

Good cable is expensive. the more strands, the better and the more expensive

Welding Cable FTW!

I used 4Ga and 1Ga high strand count welding cable for my re-wire process. It is worth it to spend the extra $$ to get the nice soft cover stuff for its flexibility. And the best way I found to cut it was a cutoff wheel on a 4.5” grinder. I also used brass ring terminals from my local welding supply store.

Size wise I ran 1Ga from the trunk mounted battery to the starter, and then 4Ga for the alt to “power distribution center” to starter. Using an amperage calculator; the 4Ga is more than sufficient for 150A for the length of run.
