Default merc 190e lsx swap

so here it is. I built a gen 3 v8 this fall, and got a great deal on a 5 speed transmission. so the logical thing was to find a donor vehicle to put this in. I like doing things out of the ordinary so I figured this would be perfect, I see theres a few others whove done similar swaps so this is where im at so far. I started with this.

I had to dyno the engine she ran like a champ, no leaks or noises. pretty good for my first ever rebuild. I found this gem a 1993 benz 190e. ive always had a little sweet spot for a Mercedes, especially these. Im trying to sell this engine, but besides that its useless for me needs. the trans is a nv3500 I have a new clutch starter flywheel, and master. has a short thow also.

I have all the needed parts for this build, no I just have to do all the fitment, im still deciding on if I want gto mounts or if I should go custome, and im trying to find a place to fab up a drive shaft for me. other than that. its going to be a stand alone harness. I managed to keep all my power accessories on the body so I have windows radio, sunroof blower, and abs, no AC, but that's okay. Im open for any suggestions on my drive shaft situation. Im thinking ill just get a slip yoke welded onto the stock benz drive shaft for now, until budget can afford a turbo, and stronger drive line.

My friend has a sportline 2.6 190e he's putting my old hx35 set up on and I have an e30 I'm putting a turbo 5.3 in, great minds think alike. I found my gto pan on ebay recently, looks like new for $200 shipped. Try searching for the part number instead of gto oil pan.

short throw in, needs to be lengthened a bit








upper hose is temporary also





temporary makeshift intake





accessories and fitment





start to custom exhaust





tight squeez





down pipes





custom y pipe





started wiring this beast, lengthen a few connectors and change a few





more wires and guages





nest of wires that need to be tucked





engine bay ready for initial fire up





cant forget the rest of the exhaust bolts up with a 3 bolt flange and three hangers

now for some flavor add some amg replicas, and this spring itll b lowered and hopefully cammed

and yes she runs strong. I had a few issues with the power steering. I believe the pump is to strong for the rack and may have to change the rack or regulate the pressure for it. im running a trans am ls1 intake. aftermarket fuel rails. its a custom tune from some guy of ebay set to my standards. I have up stream o2's. 00 trans am injectors, 04 vette maf, all electric gauges for oil, coolant, and af ratio. exhaust has a 12" dynomax bullet race muffler, sounds great. trans seems to be holding and shifting great. Ill need to roll my fenders if I plan to go any lower. the wheel rub quite bad. please feel free to comment any questions, or even bits of advice. allot of this is trial and error, such as the rack and pinion, these cars originally came with a gear box similar to a pickup

ps. this was all done in about a 3 month span to see if I could get it on the road before winter. which I managed with about 5 days to spare before snow flew and I have to park it away for the next few months. I have allot more pics of the interior cleaned up, and there is still allot more to be done to this car. Ive been super busy between full time work and school. its hard to keep this page updated.

I love it, car looks sharp.
Did you get any of the factory gauges to work it did you do your own gauges? I see the Oil pressure/Tach, wasn't sure if you got everything else communicating.

the fuel guage works, that's about it. I considered trying to keep all the gauges, but that want an option. all the gauges use a much different design, and don't have the same resistances. Ill probably keep he instrument cluster, ill just place my new gauges in the old ones spots. I have all winter to finish up the interior, I also plan on rewiring all my gauges to have a separate fuse box for the gauges/ lights. and any other add ons.
