I am still not sure of what forced induction method I want to go. Both the supercharger and turbo are going to be a tight fit. I got a supercharger and mached it up. The belt is going to be about 1/2" from the cradle. My motor mounts are pretty solid so I don't think its going to move around and rub. I will mount the alternator tomorrow to see how close it is for sure.

It is so small compared to a LS supercharger!

I think I am liking this over a turbo!

I really love small displacement supercharged engines. I have had a few MB 230's and really appreciate the power they make. This thing is going to really fly.

I didn't use any filler... It is all for looks and will not be used on anything. I am training someone and that is my no filler example. Its a Miller Syncrowave 250 DX. I am doing the filler example later today and will post that one up for a good comparison.

So earlier this morning when I first opened up LS1tech.com, there was a short article on the Bug on the home page. Now it doesn't exist.... I guess my little 4 cylinder got the boot! Not cool.

Awesome! something you'll never need to worry about for sure.

I vote to go for a Super turbo!!!!!!! I've seen a Lotus Exige that was super turbo and made something stupid like 900 HP on a 2000lbs car. You could do that! LOL!

Killer build and keep up the good work.

I love your build. I also have wanted to build a car from scratch, minus the body for a long time. Kudos on actually doing it. I hate to say it, but I would go supercharged. For what it seems like you are doing it would work out great. No matter which way you go, it will be a blast to drive.

Thank you! This has been a dream of mine for years too. I was hoping to do it on my 70 Nova but ended up selling it instead. People call me crazy for doing this much work and dumping this much $ into a Bug, but its not really a Bug any more. It is just a Bug body. I have had a ton of people tell me I can't do it or that it is going to end up being a piece of junk when I am done. This is my way of proving them wrong!

After a lot of hole filling, grinding, sanding, painting, sanding, painting and so on, I have something that looks good now!

Love the supercharger addition.

I assume that welded axle is for mock up and you are ordering a custom length axle?

Yes axle will be getting made by a professional. I wouldn't trust those things over 5 mph or over 10 hp!

I got some more welding done up front. I added the two braces that mount on the firewall. It is very slowly getting closer to being done!

Close up of the mount

Not the best weld but should work fine!
