Default ls1 foxbody !

i have mustang 1988 with ls1 engine .. before fixing the engine on my fox it ran about 450 hp (on its original car) but after i fixed the engine on the foxbody it ran about 350 hp (on the same dyno). i didnt change anything in the engine. am shocked why its less by 100 hp .. i want to know can the gear ratio be the cause ? i have a tr3650 trans with 3.73dum

can u help me figure the problem

Thanks

There's a lot of things that could cause the difference. Different dynos, weather conditions, correction factor used, was the car dyno'd in the same gear. The dyno is just a tuning tool, can't use it to chase numbers. The track tells the real story.

Same transmission, an auto vs manual can and will make a huge difference. What about exhaust systems?

Are all the injectors and plugs firing? Getting a hot spark?

the exhaust system is different but its also lets the engine breath and if there was a different it will not come to 100hp .... all the injectors and spark plugs are fine

Was it done in the right gear? If it was done in say forth then done again in third that will make a difference. You want to dyno it in whatever gear is closest to 1:1. What trans are you using? And is it the same trans as before?

edit* i see the trans listed. reading fail first time

I wouldn't dwell on the numbers. Take it to the track and see what she does, your mph will tell the real tale.

just like the guys said take it to the track, my old LS1 car in Florida dynoed about 355-365 range I think. It ran 11:40's. I sell it to somebody in New Jersey and his dyno tuner guru guy says the car only has about 245 and something is wrong. Back & forth calls and emails and still his guru is blaming the car. He was very upset that maybe I sold him a hurt car. Well he does what I say and goes to the track and BINGO a bunch of 11:40 11:50 passes on 235/60/15's DR's. takes more then 250 hp to go that fast. end of story. No a lightweight car either, full int and a/c and p/s.

Told ya man, track tells the real tale. Dyno is just a tuning tool. Glad you got it worked out, definitely don't like having people feel like you ripped them off hopefully they have a little peace of mind now.
