have L76 short block and wondering about harness and throttle cable?

have L76 short block and wondering about harness and throttle cable?
Well finding out all these abbreviations I have a L76 6.0 alum shortblock, (58 reluctor wheel) with no accessories, and a set of CNC LS3 heads. I found a LS3 intake complete minus t body and see they are fly by wire t bodies and I want a cable (for my Mustang) Now the biggest thing is finding what harness and computer I can use to make it cable driven. On my old LS1 it was easy as I was able to buy a ported throttle body but looks like no luck for a LS3 unless one of the other LS bodies fit. Same goes with the harness, it was just a 98 Trans Am. Frustrating as I just want to finish this car to go to other issues. Heres my old car, it was LS1 stuff and a lot easier. Now I have a nice black coupe to go under the knife. been hard as my wife just past away last week and I just want to finish this and be done with it before it ends up sitting forever if you understand, I think I'm ranting now.

ahh dbw "drive by wire" lol, learn something new. Thats the problem I want cable. So I'm trying to find out what harness to use as the L76 doesnt know whats on top. Should have listened and just made it carb.

L76 has a 58x reluctor wheel which means you can only use a newer ECM. The newer ECMs can only read DBW, not DBC. You can change your crank to one that has a 24X reluctor wheel and use an older ECM that can accommodate DBC.

motor just picked up, so changing really wasnt an option. I was under the impression that some suvs and trucks used DBC that where 58's and then can have it tuned. So maybe I'm being misinformed when I just bought this motor today. Had a chance to buy a iron 6.0 with 24 reluctor, but was trying to be light.

wow, really screwed, I also ordered today a complete minus throttle body LS3 intake so not sure what I'm going to do since now that I'm researching it you guys are def right. I usually read up on it but with my wife passing and wrong advice today I was in a hurry to finish the car. lesson learned, car is being parked. thank you for the info.

ok so looks like I need a TAC module, Gm DBW pedal assembly. Now if I get a engine harness like a corvette does the harness go to the Tac module or somebody said it goes to a dash harness? and then to the pedal assembly. little confused.

Which PCM do you have? The later style E38 or E67 do not use a TAC. A much less expensive alternative is an OEM pedal from a Corvette or truck. The LS3 TB is already 92mm so it can handle a fair amount of air. Yuo do need to pay attention to the harness you get. Make sure it will actually match the PCM in regard to # of connectors. I have recently seen new take off throttle bodies for $109.00. There is an ebay guy that had a whole bin full of them. You can also use an LS2, but the cost is far greater. I have proven that you can use the less expensive unit as a substitute.

no electronics as of yet. So far the L76 6.0, LS3 heads, LS3 intake with inj and the t-body thats DBW its an ac delco 217-3153 seemed like the one everybody was using. I havnt bought anything yet as very confused on what. Did see corvette pedal

Be sure to get a PCM compatible with 58 tooth reluctor. Then just match the pedal to the PCM. The early 411 ot GMT0800, even the E40 will not work. There have been a few listed in the classifieds here recently.

Since your dropping some coin on this project, then you might as well order a harness and ECM from a vendor. If you tell them what you have, and what car it's going into, trans, etc, they can make your harness, provide the correct ECM for your application, and most likely include a pedal . I'm ordering one for my swap based on the info I gave them and it cost $1700, for custom harness, ecm, pedal and trans controller. Saves me the headache and time of cutting and splicing a donor one. My Monte LS Swap I used a GM ECU and transcontroller. That cost more than $1700, and the harness was a once size fits all, meaning it was really long in some places and was difficult to make it looked polished. The GM Supermatic Trans controller was a pain as well. If you can afford it and not want to waste time, then get one made from a vendor with your application.

That is the blue/green PCM used in trucks 03-07. They are all for 24 tooth reluctor and as far as I know are DBW.
If you know what you need to start with you can go to www.car-part.com and find the individual components. I would suggest that you start with a single vehicle application such as a 07 Corvette and go from there. Pedal, PCM, wiring harness, and then pick a 6 wire throttle body.

was going to buy what was listed on the previous above post on ebay since its corvette pedal and harness but when i called them about where the pedal harness goes to they said into the dash. The engine harness does not go to it. so I might pass on that stuff.
