Anyone Running Carshops 1 1/2" Setback Mounts In A 1969 Camaro?
I'm getting ready to start putting a LS1 in my 69 camaro and wondering if I need to change to a big block heater box or will the small block work. Just wondering if the engine will clear the heater core nipples sticking out of the firewall.
Thanks for any help.

1" setback would put the engine pretty close to the fire way.. might need a little help with a BFH on the trans tunnel, depending on what your using or how it ends up being mounted. With the 1" Setback. I don't think you will have room for the SBC/6cyl as the heats will be right up there on the nipples.
Suggest you swap the heater core out for a BBC one, just buy the retainer and drill the cover. Plug up the old heater core holes.. and you should be fine, It is what I did on my Nova..

I'd recommend going to the big block heater core. 1" setback mounts cause your valve covers to pretty much hug the heater core ends, and if your coils are still on the covers, its only going to further complicate things.

Thanks guys. I'm going with a t-56 Magnum. I'm also replacing all the subframe bushings as well. Do you think I'll have to modify the trans tunnel. The kit came from American Powertrain.

I have a Nova that I tried 1" setbacks. It hit the heater housing. I ended up swapping to the big block core and housing and running Dingo sliders. My engine is about 5/8" forward of the SBC location going by the transmission mount.
