probably another newbie 911 call
I am stripping a 2000 gmc 1500 to harvest the 4.8/ 4L60 combo, i need to know how much of the wiring harness i need to save from inside the cab?
is there a tcm? or is the shifting controlled thru the pcm?
if its thru the pcm, can i just save 16-18 inches of wire at the obd2 plug?
again I am really sorry if this has been covered,
When i get closer to the actual swap i'll try to get some kind of a build thread up
Thank you for any and all replys!!
Once striped down the engine harness and PCM are all you need. It can then be wired to a few fused links/ relays and an obd2 port can be wired in.
Google search LS1 stand alone wiring harness and look at the images for a better understanding.
There are places that offer to strip down and re-wire for you Or you can purchase a stand alone harness that's all new and already set up for your needs.
I am going to try to do the harness myself first, i may have someone reprogram the pcm, but i would rather buy a program and learn that side too.
