Default 4l60E in a Mustang..dipstick?

what dipstick are you mustang swapped guys using? I have a Lokar knockoff and I cant tell when the trans is full. Also the fill hole is extremely small and it sucks!! Is there an oem dipstick that will work?

And it fit ok? I wonder why so many people use the pain in the a$$ lokar unit.

probably because it looks normal lol - the f-body tube is long and sticks out over the intake (because in an f-body the engine is 1/2 under the wiper cowl)

Oh yeah. I see that now, it comes up like half way on the intake. I wonder if the tube can be cut down. It seems like if you measure how far the dipstick sticks past the tube into the pan and make sure its the same after the tube is cut. I see a project within the project LOL.

I use the Lokar dipstick without any issues, its a bit tough to read but you can still read it and it works just fine. Mine is a 4l80e though so I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

I am at the same point in my build. I like the look of the Locar unit but it costs 10 million dollars. Anybody have pictures of how their dipsticks sit in the engine bay?

The pics I have seen with the fbody dipstick look wierd. It comes up about half way the intake. I have a lokar knockoff and it looks nice but the hole in it is about the size of a pencil. so its a PITA to fill and a PITA to read. I dont care about bling so I am willing to trade my fancy one for a stock one.

You may want to consider just shorting the original tube and dipstick. It's not hard to do. Just use a small tubing cutter for the tube and cut the dipstick the same amount. Remove the clamp unit from the top of the dip stick (it has a small pin) cut it and drill a new hole, re-install the clamp unit and your done. Or you could do like me and break the lever part and use a small key chain ring. Not pretty but it works fine.

That is definitely a thought. I just hope I can find something that will work at the junkyard this weekend. If not I will have to pay for a stupid expensive locar unit.
