Smile '70 Skylark Convertible

I just picked up my first convertible this weekend. Well actually my best bud grabbed it for me. I am really torn about doing an ls swap, not because the car is stock (it actually has a '94 sbc) but because the a/c works and in this hot Tampa sun, I don't want to eliminate a key amenity. If I did a swap it would not be performance oriented. Just a 5.3/4l60e with a small cam. How can I keep the a/c without going to vintage air? This is the only thing stopping me from doing the swap.

I'm going to guess that since its got a 94 engine in it that its been converted to 134a? If so, then I would swap it and use the LS compressor with the factory air. You've seen my green truck build, right? Something similar to the way I did it should work fine.

I did the same thing, truck compressor and POA eliminator. Works awesome. Cold Air hoses and parallel flow condensor.

I will review your build again. I do remember getting overwhelmed with the attention to detail your build received.

Forgive my ignorance but what does the reference to cold air hoses and parallel flow condenser mean friend?

That is in reference to a vendor to make up the necessary hoses and an updated condenser with threaded connections vs. pushon. I had a less than positive experience with the pushon from the compressor to the OE condender. All told I spent about $175.00 for a larger more efficient condenser and the correct hoses.

I'm going through the same thing I want to keep my factory air, and from my research it should work no problem.
