Default 2002 f body oil pan on a gen 4 5.3 help

I have been searching all over the Internet for some clarification. Im putting a gen 4 5.3 ls into my 64 Belair. In order for the motor to fit I need to use the gen 3 f body oil pan. So the f body oil pan has the oil filter bypass and my gen 4 oil pan is blocked off. So my question is how do I make the f body oil bypass work on my gen 4 motor that doesn't have one, its internal. Please help asap as I'm trying to get my motor in this week. Thanks

Nathan

Can you post a picture of the GenIV block/pan area where you are stating the Bypass is located at ?.

As far as I recall, a Gen 3 F-body pan with its bypass should just bolt up to the Gen IV Block and work.. but I could be wrong..?

Does your GenIV engine have VVT or DOD or ?.. that would change some parts of the oiling system. What RPO code is your Gen IV engine ?

I thought the main difference was in the oil filter used. If you try to thread the gen4 filter on the fbody pan, it won't go, you need to use the fbody filter. I swapped my gen3 fbody oil pan which took a PF46 for the Holley 302-2 pan which takes a PF48, so I had to go the opposite direction you are with respect to oil filters. Basically PF48 has an internal oil filter bypass, PF46 does not have the internal bypass.

Odd thing is that some fbody oil pans use the old filter style and some fbody pans use the new filter style. The threads are different so that ends up being your go / no go gauge.

For the either oil filter fitment, you can swap the threaded adapter to use either of the 46 or 48 filter. You can pick up the adapter at any GM dealer. I swapped my pans adapter on both of my cars to use the same PF48e, that way I only have to stock up with one part number/filter.

Other than the internal bypass differents.. the PF46 is a SAE thread and the PF48 is a metric 22mm x 1.5mm thread. (But I have not verified that myself)

The oil pans are the same except for the filter and the oil bypass. The gen 4 has an internal oil filter bypass and the gen 3 pan I need to use has an external bypass. I need to know where to route the external bypass oil
