Default 6L90 questions

I am putting a 6L90 in my 61 BelAir with a 6.2L and I am wondering what kind of power the trans can handle. The 6.2 will have Mahle pistons and a stage 2 VVT cam from TSP. I would like to put a 3000 stall converter in it as well... So you guys think I'll have to put any internal parts into the trans?
I also have to convert it to a 2wd..

Probably not going by your parts list. It is stronger than the 6L80 and should handle the power you will be putting down just fine as long as the transmission is in good condition.

My tuner says they are good for 800 hp in stock configuration.

I am having a lot of trouble trying to find the right parts to convert my 4wd 6L90 to a 2wd.. The dealership is no help at all when it comes to conversions.. I have a 2010 6L90 and need a tail shaft and housing. Are the 6L80 and 6L90 parts interchangeable cause the dealership is saying they are 2 different part #'s..

I am wondering if the tail housing and shaft for a Camaro 6L80 will fit on this 6L90. I was looking at the slip yoke for the 6L90 and it is huge.. The drive shaft is going to have to be pretty big to fit this slip yoke.

I wish I new for sure. Maybe you can find some part numbers online and see if they are the same. I thought the transmission were about the same except that the 6L90 has some extra clutches in it and about an 1"-2" longer case. There are some sites that have parts break down numbers and maybe you can compare. Also there are some shops that are into the rebuilding of them and maybe give them a call.

I bought a 2007 2wd 6L90, and have it in a Dakota RT. The guy who tuned it is well-versed in 6l80 and 6l90 transmissions, and tells me that he routinely sees 600-650 rwhp in a 4000 lb vehicle without damage.

My transmission came without the slip yoke, and what a bitch it was to find that. I finally bought a driveshaft with the slip yoke from justchevytrucks on ebay, and had them pull the slip yoke off and mail that to me to save shipping. Don't know what they did with the driveshaft.

If anyone can get you the right tailshaft and slip yoke, it would be them.

Considering I have a X framed car and the D-shaft has to run through the frame I am going to need to run as small of a D-shaft as I can.. It is also lowered on air so it will be tight..

My driveshaft is 107", which is why I had to go with such a big diameter. A shorter shaft can have a smaller diameter. I would find a local shop that can help with this.

If you want small and lightweight, you could always consider carbon fiber.

same here. I want to know if I have to take apart the internal stuff like on the 4L80, just change the input shaft and the tail housing like on the 8L90 or just change the Tail housing by itself🤷🏿‍♂️. I’m gonna call a few places I know do swaps and I should have an answer tomorrow most likely.
