reducing 4l60e cooler lines

reducing 4l60e cooler lines

i have a 4l60e for a 2005 silverado that has 3/8 cooler lines and my 86 monte radiator has 5/16 cooler fittings. would it be ok to reduce these lines to 5/16. i heard the older 4l60s from the 90s have 5/16 line. also what pressure do these lines see

I've done it on several occasions and never had any problems.

thanks ill use 5/16 inverted flare at the radiator and 3/8 tubing at the trans and use 2 ft of 11/32 trans hose to couple the both of them together. thanks

You can think that clearly at 4:28 AM?? I prefer the metric system, it's too early in the morning for math like that! Hahaha.

Just make sure to put a little flare on the 5/16 line where it's going to the rubber hose so it doesn't slip off at some random time a year later while under pressure. Ask me how I know...
