If you’re willing to put in some elbow grease, there is a very cost effective option. For my ’73 Nova 5.3 swap I used the infamous Ebay 4th-gen SS headers with great success. The build quality and materials were both good and the price was great at $180. I had a buddy bring over his oxy torch and with some heat and long lever arms we were able to re-align the collectors into position. We also removed the AIR and EGR ports and TIG welded them closed. To finish off I used a scotch brite wheel (several actually) to remove the heat discoloring and give the headers a brushed look. 5000 miles later and I am still very happy with them.
Oh, I did have to indent #3 and #5 primaries to make clearance for the steering gear. Unfortunate but neccesary and IMO acceptable at I could not shell out $800 for proper conversion headers.
Check out my build thread for more details and pics.
