Default 1970 Chevelle LS2 TKO500 Completed

It has been a long while since I posted anything, here is the completed project. I have several small things to finish up but wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped me with ideas and such for my 1970 Chevelle! Without LS1tech/ members this would have been much more difficult and time consuming. Thank you.

1970 Chevelle SS Cloned
Stock LS2
TKO500 Transmission
Hydraulic Clutch
Stock A/C compressor
Classic Auto Air A/C system
12 Bolt Rear 3.08 Gears, Eaton Posi
Autometer Gauges inside the stock SS dash housing

Most of the car is stock except the gauges and Engine and Transmission.
Until you pop the hood it looks like a stock SS Chevelle from the outside

1" lowering springs
Hotchkis huge from sway bar, Front Poly Bushings
Boxed Lower Control Arms Poly Bushings (Rubber bushing on housing)

These improvements on the suspension make it handle awesome for being 45 years old!

Congratulations! So now you get to drive and enjoy it. Will be interesting to hear how it compares to the old motor.

I have one mechanical issue to work out with the rearend or driveshaft. Not sure which one. Once I get to break it in and get on it I will tell you how it compares.

I ran three different engine.

Stock 400 Small Block

454 (468 Solid roller motor)

454 (468 Solid roller motor, with a smaller cam)

I would suspect this will be similar or a bit better than the 400.

You will really appreciate the daily manners of the LS compared to the earlier engines. The fuel economy will be double what you saw with either 468. I have seen 23 with my LQ4.

After driving the car with the LS2. The power is more than my old 400 Small block but not quite as much as my big block. The driving manners are great and the power is awesome. I would never need more than 400 hp, it doesn't hook up the way it is.

Because of the fuel injection no tuning required and the weight difference the Aluminum engine is superior to the big block for driving.

If you are drag racing a big block is fine, but that is about all. And if you like stopping a lot at the gas station.
