ls2 engine harness preference?? dbw Ok guys its been about two years since ive been able to work on my project. Now im back at it. Im running a forged procharged ls2 in a 68 Camaro. I started modding my factory gto harness and realized its more of a head ache than I prefer to get into. So, my question... with all these companies offering standalone engine harnesses, who do I go with? painless, street and performance, spaertech, etc. Just give me some feed back on what you guys have had good experiences with, Thanks.
I have a LS2 & T56 with DBW from a 2006 GTO in my 1966 GTO. I first had my stock harness modified by Wait4me Performance, I would not use them again, missing connectors, no plug on the dbw pedal side, and the engine was always hard to start. I later went with Speartech a little pricey but the old adage of you get what you pay for definitely applied here for me. Great service and tech support, and was made to my specifications such as extra wire trunk length so I could place my ECM in the passenger fender well, extra O2 wire length for my headers and wired so I could use a Fbody alternator and wired for a Trailblazer dbw pedal. The Trailblazer dbw pedal was necessary as John flashed my E40 ECM with a Chevy SSR tune so my cruise control would work. It all plugged in correctly and fired up and ran great on the first try.
Interesting - that mirrors what I've heard a lot of, about both companies. Another factor that would make Speartech my choice is John's history at GM. I figure that if he ever runs up against something that he's not sure about, he probably has about 6 or 8 people "on the inside" that he can call...
