Default 02 6.0 vin N should I buy or not?

I'm in the planning phase of my ls swap into my 1966 Pontiac lemans. I came across a 02 Cadillac Escalade with a good running engine and trans complete for under 1,000 dollars. should i jump on it or not? It's a 6.0 Vin N, I have heard about different crank sizes and possible issues but not completely sure. Any information or guidance would be great.

That should be a Lq9 which has a short crank (normal length). They are rated at 345hp 380ftlbs. Also should have the aluminum 317 heads.

You might have to some research on the tranny. It should be a 4l65e. I am not sure if you can use it since these suvs were all wheel drive.

the 4l65e should be the same as a 4l60e. they use the same case's. would just need a 2wd output housing instead of the 4wd.

You didn't mention the mileage, but if it runs well and holds decent oil pressure go I'd be all over it at that price.. It is an LQ9, little higher compression 6.0, and will bolt just fine to a 4l60e if you need to replace the AWD transmission. Make sure you get the ECU, TACC module and pedal with the engine to make life easier down the road.

You have to completely disassemble the trans to do that. Output shaft is the first thing to go in on a rebuild.

was told around 100 k for mileage. not worried about the trans stuff. i use to rebuild 4l60 trans and have a lot of parts laying around. going to see if i can get it started with a jump box before i had over the money. but even for the price it's looking to be well worth it. just need to get it 100 miles to my garage.
