Default newer lq4 DBC conversion?

So Im looking to buy a newer lq4 engine (2006 or 2007). But I want to use a cable drive throttle system, no EGR, no DOD, no AFM, etc. If I use a DBC throttle body from an older unit on the newer engine or an aftermarket one and flash the PCM or have it programmed, is there anything else necessary for operation? Thanks in advance for the help/info, even if it isn't what Im hoping to hear.

You need a 2005 2500 Expeess Van powertrain . Lq4 (6.0), dbc, 4l80, etc..

As long as you stick to a Gen3, you'll be ok. You may need an older PCM since the newer PCMs dont have IAC drivers in them.

not trying to hijack this thread but if you have a harness that's DBW can it swapped over to match DBC? With a DBC PCM of course (red/blue)

yep. That's what I did. You have to pin in 7 wires(4 IAC, 3TPS). But I have a blue/ green harness and 04 GTO pcm. But a 0411 will work for you.

Ryanleiker, so if I get the whole vehicle from auction, I can use the engine, tranny, PCM, harness and everything without having to delete anything I mentioned before? Also, is the 2005 Express 2500 considered the G2?

You will still need a tune to remove VATS unless you use Van key, parts of the dash wiring, and bcm. If you remove emissions equipment then you have that removed as part of the tune too.

So if I wanted to the engine to run without AFM, DOD, VATS, EGR etc, I could tell whoever tunes my PCM that and they will take care of it? No DIY bypass crap that probably won't work?

If you want to remove DOD there are a few internal engine mods that need to be done besides programming. There are a few good write ups on here about that. Here is a link to a kit for you.

The DOD and AFM are on the newer gen4 engines. If you want an LQ4, then it will be a gen3. Find one from 2005 to 2007, with the 2007 being a Silverado classic. The new body style 2007 Silverado will have the gen4 engine.

So I would just need that kit and a camshaft? Thanks for the info, theres always so much to learn. Just to clarify, ls1nova71, if I get ahold of a 2005 lq4 from an Express van, I wouldn't need a DOD/AFM delete kit, right?

That is correct. It will mpst likely be a DBC engine too.
