Not sure if it's progress or not..... But I removed the gas tank, grill, front valence, bumper/brackets, stone guard, headlight trim rings/headlights, Rocker trim, front fenders, hood hinges, upper shock brackets, outer tower braces, front wiring harness, windshield washer reservoir and a few other small things.....
It still amazes me how clean stuff is on this car when I remove factory hardware that is barely surface rusted(although there isn't much that haven't removed after today).....
Here are the progress pic's or whatever you want to call it(fist pic shows what the factory hardware I took out looks like).....
From my perspective, the only way to do an old car build is to start with a good "survivor" car. I care not about the drivetrain as long as the rest of the car is intact and mostly rust free. I got lucky with my Cougar too...
Back at it this morning..... Got the car outside and scraped all the heavy panel deadner off the inner fenderwell area and blew all the loose crap off I could..... Then I put the car back in the shop, blocked it up and leveled it..... Got all the brake fluid sucked out, removed all the front suspension and steering.....
Here's the areas I scraped the deadner off of.....
Here the car is blocked up and ready to be worked on.....
and here it is with all the suspension/steering removed.....
No plasma cutter here..... Cut off wheels, spot weld drills, air saw, sawzall and an air chisel.....
That's more than I have....
Honestly, I am sad to see the shock towers go. I've grown quite fond of the OEM Ford design. It's not as "swap" friendly as some other designs, but I see some of the benefits.

They won't go all together, but they will be highly modified.....
Just read this whole thread and wow what a clean swap candiate to star with? One question wouldn't it been cheaper to get a junk yard 5.3 and build it up?
Man that's a nice find, nice build up too!
still amazed the surface rust my 75 c10 lowish miles has less but then again that's whats great about Arizona cars can't wait to see the suspension set up!

Thanks..... I probably would have been little cheaper to use a junk yard motor, but I chose to go with new..... I thought it was a good deal and what I felt was right for my project.....
