Eric,

when you have your PCM programmed, do you send it in or do it yourself? I am thinking about purchasing a the software but wanted to ask first.

I have a friend who does them for me. I would like to do it myself, but I think the learning curve would **** me off.

Well I am in all likelihood going to build another and another but if I understand correctly, the programmer is good for a certain year? At least that is what I read when reviewing the top two or three units. I'm not too worried about the learning curve as I would build a turd motor to experiment on. At any rate, as I've not sourced someone to program mine for me, I will make the decision to get one here pretty soon. I just don't like someone else doing anything on my builds. I guess I'm weird that way.

Sounds like you are looking at hand held tuners, like Hypertech or something? If so, that's not what you want, they only do generic changes, and I'm pretty sure they wont delete things like VATS. You need tuning software that you use with a laptop, such as HPTuners.

Eric,

You're spot on with your recommendation on tuning software. I had figured out pretty quickly that a handheld wouldn't fit the bill and that a laptop based software program would be in order. I have seen them for about $500.00 give or take and that covers a single year and specific model of programming capability. Of course I may have misread the product description but I am fairly sure that was the case. Do you know of a product that does multiple years?
