Default LS 1 Swap into 69 Camaro help

I have a 69 Camaro that I am putting an LS 1 from a 2001 Trans Am in. I ordered the conversion mounting brackets and they did not have instruction sheet with them. Not sure which one goes on the drivers side and which one goes on passenger side. (Which way does the pointed end face, front or rear. Thanks.

I would post this in the conversions and hybrids forum here. Many people there with many different motors going into many different vehicles, including Gen I Camaros with LS motors.

Next I'd contact the mfg as not all mounts are created equal. What works for one may not for another. On the Jeep, I had to just get the engine most of the way in and try them a few different ways as they were adjustable in several dimensions.

Good luck.

What brand/model of brackets did you buy?

If you did not get 1" setback plates, you will need to substantially notch the front of your f-body oil pan.

Even with the 1" setback plates, you may still need to take a 1/2" out of the front.

#1 Rule: Ask questions and search/read the other builds.

This swap has been done countless times and the more efficient routes to all of the issues have been figured out. Don't try to cut corners. Do it right the first time. It will save you money in the short and long run.

Or go with an Art Morrison subframe and everything fits like a dream.

Here's the only helpful picture I have. The two bolts for the engine mount go up top and in the forward portion of the plate, right on top of the front two engine block bolt holes. These front two engine block bolt holes should be countersunk in the conversion plates.

Geez!
Good luck closing the hood with tha lol!
With those mount there I would look on the lower front passenger side of the block.
If you have setback plates they will cover where the AC compressor bolts up.

To make everything easier, I bought the hooker swap kit with their plates.
You just use their plates, a holly oil pan and factory frame mounts you can buy at the auto parts store.

OK learned a valuable lesson. Do research before I buy. Any suggestions for conversion engine and transmission mounts that I will be able to use stock steering.

The only setup that allows no modifications is the hooker setup, which entails motor mounts, transmission crossmember and the lower profile swap oil pan.
I believe others have gotten away with just the hooker oil pan and the generic swap plates without steering interference. This may be the route you want to take if you're looking for a full bolt-in deal.
