56 Chevy Stepside questions....? Hey I'm looking for a bit of insight on doing a lsx swap in a 56 Chevy truck. I'm wanting to do something for my dad . I'm wanting to do a lq4/9 maybe even turbo it down the line and a 4l80 but i need to what is needed for this swap. Oil pan, headers, tranny x member and whatever else .

try searching on here for a truck swap section im sure some on here. lot of varables considering you didnt say if your buying a donor car/truck or piecing things together. cheaper to get everything at 1 time tho. converting a truck harness is not hard as info is on LT1Swap.com.

If i come across a donor i plan to go that way . My dad has had the truck since before i was born its solid and runs for the most part . I just want it to be something fun he can drive when he wants . I actually talked to a guy thats a few hours from me that made me a pretty decent offer on a complete ls1 and 5.3 that he has so i might just go that route and keep it cable driven or do a carb setup on it .

if its just going to be a driver street cruiser you cant beat fuel injection. I would buy a donor truck cause alot of it would adapt over quite well. Plus you can sell off what not needed. All the small stuff adds up fast.

well try to get most for your money as you can. if you get DBW throttle you will need the gas pedal & tach box with the harness for them. you also want the pcm to be same year as those. a truck engine harness is easy enough to do for conversion. LT1Swap.com has that info, thats what I used to do mine. I modified gas tank to take a silverado fuel pump assembly as you can buy new assemblies on ebay $50, worked well for me. I dont know what you can do but motor/tranny install not to hard. I think your original truck might be 6 volt not 12 volt like new cars are. you"ll need to figure it out.
