Default power steering

I have a 5.3 installed in my 69 C10.Will the OEM steering box have any pressure issues with the Ls style pump?

it'll work, but it's not ideal.
i ended up with a smaller pulley so I'd have assist at idle/parking lot rpms.
but the pressure is really high for the box and way too much assist at highway rpm
check the ls swap section of 67-72trucks. it can be made really nice, just gotta throw money at it.
i'm also using the 13:1 jeep box, which i think adds to the issue.

LS truck engines use the same "P-series" pump that came on your 69 C-10...it will work just fine.

If your really worried about it...just use the pressure relief valve from you 69 pump in your LS pump.

You can use whatever fitting you want to adapt your pressure line also...

Ive never had any issues. Like was stated earlier, just take the pressure valve/fitting out of your old pump and put it in the newer pump and you can run the factory high pressure hose. Super simple.

Again swap out the valve, if the pressure is still too high you can add a shim to the stack in the valve to drop some more. There is a thread here that tells how to do it.

I have a similar issue with a Mustang II rack. Pressure needed for it is around 1000 lbs where the pump puts out 1300+ lbs. Summit Racing has a shim kit that will reduce the power. Also there are videos on line showing just how to install the shims. Doing mine today so that it won't dart at hyway speeds.

Due to the higher pressure and if not adjusted, I would run a cooler inline with the re-turn line. The higher pressure and heat up the fluid.

I use them in my swaps anyway.
