New LS engine - to paint or not to paint?
So...new LS3,and contemplating painting it or leaving it raw. Was thinking of clear coating but I can not find any clear that is guaranteed not to yellow. If I decide top paint it, where do you start and stop? The old school Pontiacs were easy to paint because there was definite start and stop points on the block. Thoughts?
Thanks..
Thanks..
I Say clean off all the casting marks with a grinder, mine had some on the heads that would cut your fingers, Clean the whole thing with lacquer thinner, Paint with a good high heat ceramic paint.
I used KBS motor coated on a cast block and andvery happy with it.

I paint every swap/install I do. I've already painted my LM7 covers corporate GM Cadillac blue to match the paint from the original 425, so I say paint ! At least the short block and maybe match the valve covers.
