Like the title says. I am doing 4.8 swap in a 89 Fox Body. How do I wire in the check engine light from the LS harness to the stock Mustang cluster? I would like the stock check engine light to come on in the Mustang cluster if I ever have any issues. I know people have done it I just couldnt find a thread explaining it. Thanks!

Should be easy enough to figure out. There are only two wires to the light, one is going to be an ignition power and the other is going to be a ground. Pull the cluster out and trace the wires on the printed circuit, find the one that has power and leave it alone, the other one will be the ground, so you would hook the check engine light wire (brown I believe) coming out of the PCM to that. The PCM supplies a ground to turn the light on when needed.

Ford supplies the ground just like GM. On a Ranger it's pin 17 on EEC IV harness tan wire. Its the same color but I don't remember pin number. I think it's the same pin 17. Ford calls it self test connector in wiring diagram.

Pass side kick panel where EEC IV computer is located or connector(obd 1) by master cylinder for diag hook up. It feeds directly to the cluster and under hood connector.
