Water pump situation. Because I am running a mechanical water pump, some considerable changes need to be made to my current setup. 1st, I have to run these ¾” spacers to move my water pump out so it will clear the RH engine plate.

Then I have to swap from the Vette pulley to an F-Body pulley so the belts all line up..you can see the massive difference.

As I started reading it became quickly apparent that a pulley swap on these engines is unlike others I have worked on, special tools, press fit, stretch bolts. So, I couldn’t find anyone selling or renting a flywheel tool locally or the pulley installation tool….and they seemed abnormally expensive online…so I made both. Worked perfectly. Tossed on a new bolt afterwards, torqued her down and done.

With the new pulley in place, I am out of excuses to not mate the engine and transmission. I also put my 996 engine on kijiji, wow…there are lots of guys out there that need engines. Sufficed to say…sold quickly…needed the room so worked out.

As nice as it is for RH to supply all the hardware..I can’t stand seeing the bolts rust. So went and picked up some stainless hardware to replace everything on trans, engine plate and water pump.

I also did my fuel system pressure test. No leaks..so I am now clear to put the engine up. I think I have decided I may modify the Pcar fuel pump arrangement..looks like a birds nest mess from what I have seen online.
Next steps
- Install engine/trans and bolt in place.
- Getting wiring started
- Modify water pump and begin fabing coolant lines
- Do big parts run
Ah, got it. Looks good. Aluminum is a PITA. We have a tow dolly that needs aluminum weld repair & am trying to find a cheap way other than to send it out to a shop.
Sorry, a little off topic. Saw the opportunity to ask about it.

Carquip...they've been around for a loooooooong time.
They have 996 trannys, do rebuilds, and re-gearings.

I used to clubrace 993s, then switched to Z06s, then and more recently to GTRs...I really intrigued by the prospect of an LS7 in a C4S.
