Nothing much exciting going on. My hooker engine mounts are on back order. I installed the trans cross member, but I really need the mounts. One of the things I regretted on my last build was the lack of insulation in the car. Lots of annoying noises. So I decided to purchase some heat and noise spray insulation. Its call Al's HNR which is like an inexpensive version of Lizard Skin. It has great reviews.
Here are the before an after photos. I wish it wasn't 'flesh colored'. I may respray over it in black epoxy even though all areas will be covered. It still bothers me.

Ok so I forked over some dough for the Holley swap kit. This included the pricey cross member, mounts, long tube headers etc. The stuff was back ordered to boy was I excited when it arrived today. You have to take the subframe motor mount stand offs from the 71 and swap in some clamshell mounts. Holley sends you a template for new holes, supposed to be a piece of cake. Well guess what, my alignment template from Holley doesn't line up. I'm guessing it was created from a Camaro.

Well after mocking up and test fitting for almost 3 hours, I have the engine and trans in.
I was able to use the top two existing subframe motor mount holes and redrilled the bottom for the clamshell mounts. This placed the trans mount about 1/2" too far forward of the cross member holes, but I was able to wallow them out and use the cross member.
Its in!

Header time. Installed the Hooker headers and they look nice. The clearance is great and the install was smooth. This was definitely a nice experience that I needed to motivate me.
While I was at it, I put some E3 plugs in. I also add new trans fluid and bled the clutch. It seems to shift into all gears well with the car not running.

I'm trying to measure for my driveshaft. I'm worried though because the car is supposed to sit where you want it stance wise before measuring. I have the CPP pro touring kit on here but it looks like a 4x4. I loosened all bolts and hardware to prevent binding but its not settling.

I think you're right, the weight will help. My other problem is that those Iroc wheels I bought are only 25" from outside of tires. The stockers are 27" which will close the gap another inch. Plus the springs will settle a bit. I may add a 1" block to drop it further. Thanks for the help!

Waiting on making some decisions on the electrical harness. In the mean time I ordered and installed a Kwik accessory bracket system. Real nice stuff and easy install. The only thing I need to replace is the AC compressor and I was going to do it anyway. Appears its not the type of compressor for the brackets. I highly recommend these.
Also bought a pair of used inner fenders. There were pretty rusty but it was only surface rust. I treated them, sanded them, primed, and painted them. next pics should have the inner fenders installed as well as the radiator core support and radiator. Getting close to firing up!
