67 camaro coil relocation... forced induction
Im using flipped up truck manifolds on my turbo build in my 67 camaro.
I relocated the coils to underneath the manifolds. did the passenger side first to clear my downpipe
now, im onto the driver side and the steering gear box is making it tight.
theres one bolt on the gear box that is about .25" away from the bottom of the coil.
i think thats ok. if the engine lifts, that distance will only increase.
but my question is whats the minimum distance from the manifold tubes that the coils can be?
right now, ive got around 4-5 cm between the square top of the truck coils and the heat shield bosses on the manifolds.
the manifolds will be coated or wrapped before everything is done, so that should help with heat.
do you think 4-5 centimeters is ok? or will the coils die quick?
thanks
I know some have mounted their coil near the mounting plates.. but most likely had more clearance. More air flow would help dissipate the heat away from the coils.
Let us know how and if the heat effects the coils performance.
i have the truck heat shields i could put back on, but even with the exhaust wrap and the shield, im just not convinced id be ok long term
