Default How do I know engine movement?

I am swapping a 5.3 into a 62 impala ss and would like to know when I am selecting engine mount adapters how I'm supposed to know how far forward or backwards I should move the engine or if I should at all. Are there any tricks for telling (ex: driveshaft angle, etc.) or is it just a matter of nothing hitting the firewall?

Also, what LS to SBC mounts have you all had success with?

Thanks!

It's really a matter of where you want the motor to sit and where it "will" fit. The 1" setback mounts are very popular. They place the rear of the block in the same position as the factory setup so your trans doesn't have to be relocated. If your installing an updated motor trans combo then some try to move the setup a bit forward so the tunnel clearance is better.

I used dirty dingo Double D mounts on my chevelle. They provide a few different positions of mounting. I ended using the 1" setback location.
