Default Solstice swap question

Thinking about swapping an LSX into a solstice but can't find out some specific info on the transmission. Anyway to keep the stock manual trans in there with a ls1/2 swap? Trying to keep the initial swap as budget friendly as possible at first until I get my t56 rebuilt.

Stock manual trans? The main issue with it is that it has an integral bellhousing that most likely will not allow you to use the stock 14" LS flywheel.

I'd save your money and do it right when you have a T56.

There is one running around here int he summer with a LS7. It is the nicest looking swap I have ever seen. It looks like it came from the factory with the engine and trans.

Those are nice cars. Just get all the pieces together and do it right the first time.

I believe the Solstice bellhousing is the same pattern as a LS4. The only thing I wouldn't be sure of is the offset for the clutch. Since the LS4 is only available in a FWD vehicle, the clutch is a bit shorter then a RWD. Comparing a Cobalt clutch to a Solstice clutch (both Ecotecs), there is about .5-.75" difference in height. If you could get a measurement from the pressure plate fingers to the bellhousing on a LS4, I can get you one for an Ecotec. As long as they are the same, I don't see a problem using the stock trans.

OP, Here's a thread I'm using to help guide me during my swap.

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f...uild-up-73438/

That forum member reused the stock AR5 trans on his LS1. It requires and adapter bellhousing, an addt'l 3/8" thk spacer for the bellhousing, welding 2 addt'l mounting tabs, a slave cylinder, cutting a few holes, etc.. I'm in the process of pulling my supercharged 2.4L LE5 engine (makes 312 whp/ 352 lb-ft) and putting in a 5.3L with cam, heads, and intake into a 2007 Saturn Sky.

Hot Rod Magazine did one a few years ago and that thing was bad *** - GM helped with the swap and they used all kinds of goodies from various GM vehicles to finish it. Ran 10s, Stops From 60 mph in Less Than 100 Feet, and Pulls Over 1 g on the Skidpad.
