1937 Ford Sedan
The trunk floor area where the gas tank filler tube runs to the gas tank had some rust issues too. The way it was done at the factory allowed water to stay in a pocket which created some rust between the double walls. I took the top piece off and cut the bottom piece back to good metal.
After panel was removed and trunk floor was trimmed.

Took a while to make this little piece, but it should lasts longer this go around...

Before

FINALLY .........After..............I'm sure there are many easier ways to do this, but I like how they turned out. On to the next item on the list.

The next item on my list is to figure out how to get the car at ride height, BUT raised in the air about a foot to make the motor/trans install a little easier. More soon................

I gave the "cribbing blocks" some thought last night and came up with some ideas. I would like to be able to move the car around so I can use my I- beam/hoist while locating the motor. Maybe this will be better than the cherry picker always hitting the jack stands no matter where you put them
! I basically took my vehicle dollies apart and made some risers. Here is all the scrap material I could round up to make the prototype. It puts the tire 12" off the floor. On the height of the rear I'll have to do a little math to get the correct rake etc. Not sure I really want to visit the hardware store on July 4th to get material for the other 3 - maybe Ill just cook some burgers instead

Nice! Just be sure the corners you've got the casters bolted into can take the full weight, that wood looks a little thin. Maybe bolt them to solid wood with lag bolts and skip nuts? Cribbing is pretty common for supporting heavy loads and stable if built right
Good points ....it's 3/4" plywood on the top and bottom and the donut tires on the car will sit right in the middle of the dollies. I'll post if there are any changes and how they turn out.
Since the car is actually rolling now I pushed it outside today to clean the shop. And by the way it is now so low since it isn't on jack stands anymore that I almost did a somersault the first time I hopped out at the new stance
. Then it didn't take long and here came the rain. The car is definitely not weatherproof at this point so right back inside it came. July 4th its raining in East Texas .......REALLY ?!?!

Finished installing a Vintage Air Frontrunner System today (minus the tensioner and clutch covers). Thanks Daddy Bill for use of the special tools I didn't have on hand! The parts in this kit are nice and the instructions were clear. Anxious to see where the clearance issues are going to be in the car.
