Default tranny dipstick problem

Hey I recently did a 5.3 4l60e swap in my 74 c10. I used some adapter plates that allowed me to use the 350 engine mounts so the motor would mount in stock location. Well it fit like a glove. Well I ran into 3 things 1) I had to slide back the tranny crossmember and drill 2 holes 2) I had to take an inch off my driveshaft to finish off the drivetrain originally I had a 350/700r4 and 3) and it's the problem I can't seem to get the tranny dipstick down to seat. The motor is close enough to the firewall I don't have wiggle room to seat it. Have anyone had this problem before? I need to know asap. Get an aftermarket dipstick or lower the trans n motor by taking out the crossmember n see what goes from there. Any info will do thanks

Lowering the trans Will likely make it worse. Did you lube up the seal in the trans so you're not shoving it in dry?

No I don't have room @ all to do anything! I tried to stick it down @ certain angles but can't seem to get it close enough to where it's supposed to be mounted to

sounds like you may have the adjustable plates. several holes that you can put mount on several different locations. If so yo put the mounts on in the back set of holes? I used these style of plates on my skylark and I would never go with them again. They made the motor higher and could only get one mount bolt thru. I had to take mounts off frame and redrill holes to get to work. sounds like motor to far back.

Have you tried to stick it in from the bottom? If there really isn't enough room you can always get the lokar trans dipstick. I had to use it on mine. There are mixed reviews on it. Mainly that it's difficult to fill the trans and hard to read with brand new fluid. But it does solve the problem of not enough space since its flexible.

Man, You should have a ton of room for a stock dipstick in a 74 C-10 - Does it look as if there is room once it's in and you just can not snake it through? I have had to put the dipstick on the trans before sliding them in place before, Might work...

I don't have the adjustable plates. They bolt right to the motor and I use the stock cup mounts. I may have to start from the bottom hopefully it will work. If not I will try the lokar dipstick

I thought you had plates I misunderstood your problem. If its angle of tube try heat with torch a bit and tweak it. I had to on my 76 skylark with pick up dipstick tube. was to high for hood to shut.
