Question Dash/Gauges Suggestions?

Any recommendations for aftermarket gauges for an LS swap? I really want Dakota Digital, but found out the cluster for my 70 GTO is 8-10 weeks out. Anyone use Autometer electric speedo and tach, etc.?

I'll be back home to finsh the car in 2 weeks. I hate to drop $300 on a converter box for the speedo and fight to try and get my hood tach to work with the E38 if I can go aftermarket.

Trust me it is worth the 8-10 weeks out if you can wait for the Dakota Digital. I bought the DD for my 87 Buick T-type. Not installed yet but love the ease in which to hook up everything and also the features such as 1/8th and 1/4 mile ET and MPH. Just my opinion. Rich

If your heart is set on the DD set, then I would wait. In my case, I really liked the VDO viewline series and just used the factory gauges patiently until my favorites arrived. It's only a few weeks, and you'll be much happier.

I picked up a 6 gauge set from Marshall for $330. Analog gauges, but are just fine.

I guess I'll wait on the DD gauges. I looked around and speedhut has some nice looking stuff. I'd rather the bolt in style of DD than fabbing something to fit my dash. Thanks for all the leads and advice.

Another vote for DD. I have them in my car and love them. I honestly don't care for the 1/4 mile calculator, but I really love all of the other options like the gauge warning feature and the shift light built into it. Less wiring and install time. Using the BIM OBD2 module, you can pick up engine readings directly off of your PCM.

Exactly. No cutting up of the dash and look great.

I almost went with a DD setup, but opted for Speedhut after speaking with them about different gauges and their options available. I still went with a pretty simple setup water, fuel, tach with sequential shift light, and GPS speedo with 1/4 mile/turn-indicators/high-beams/etc.. The accuracy of the gauges is excellent, and making a mounting plate to fit my Lexus dash was far from rocket science. I have had the gauges for well over a year now and not one issue, and everyone loves the look of them:

I recently used new vintage usa for a conversion in a 66 c-10. You might give them a call if they don't make a drop in dash they do custom work also.
