HELP!!! 700r4 flywheel hole issues
I have a 85 Caprice Classic which still has the factory 700r4 in it. I bolted the trans up to the 5.3 LS last night but seen that 1. the flywheel to torque converter holes are off a little bit and 2. when we turn the motor over to access the bolt holes the flywheel and the converter spins together. I was told it might be binded up inside, I just wanted to get some more info from you guys before I got pulling the trans off and trying to do it all over again. Thanks!

Is the torque convertor all the way back engauged in front pump of tranny. If not you could break front pump gears in tranny. Usually when its rite you can spin convertor till convertor/flywheel holes match up.

There are 3 distinct "clicks" when you are pushing the converter onto the shaft. When it's on right, you will need to pull the converter BACK a little bit towards the flwheel.
Another concern....I an not sure about a transmission from '95, but the truck "LS" motors, (4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2) have a different flywheel/converter than the true "car" LS motors (LS1, LS2, LS3, etc. I would bet that your converter isn't lining up because you are mixing a truck motor and a car transmission. I could be wrong though.

is the flywheel dished ,, if so you need this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Speedway-LS-Crank-to-GM-TH350-400-Converter-Sleeve-Adapter-4mm-Centerplate-/131442165621?hash=item1e9a904775&vxp=mtr
if its flat you need this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/700R4-Early-4L60E-Adapter-to-install-a-LS1-motor-/130944454153?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e7ce5ce09&vxp=mtr
you also need to elongate the converter bolt holes toward the center of the flexplate approximately 1/8 of an inch ,,, a rattail file works well for this purpose , or a dremel tool
