Exp. axle width is less than an inch shorter than OEM, so I am planning to go with that.
It sure looks like that Probably just road salt from winter...
It is. It came along with other parts, but it looks cool on a shelf! Just got a L92 truck intake with rails from e-bay and actually plannig to use it.
Thanks Tuske! Tranny is going to be 4L80E

Some progress is starting to happen. Finally got most of the tearing down done. She is ready to go for some extensive metal fab.
Yesterday evening got "the cat on the table". Some ride hight and tire mock-up going on.
How about that?

Front end is also getting some attention.
Finding a right spot with laser:
Starting to find a location, needs to go up about another 2"
Old school stock racer look:
versus something new:
I really like the old school look, but those 15" rims will not clear the big vette brakes. Big tire will need more space to clear the turns and the fat tire wall will eat most of the riding improments.
So the tyre/wheel combination will probably be something else...

A little more work going in on in the front end:
Luckily I have a friend that owns a shop which is specialized to metal fabrication. Otherwise this would be one of those projects that never gets finished.
Engine is also getting some fresh parts from corvette connections.
c5 oil pan, c6 exth.manifolds and cats. Nice and low.

It has been a while and the progress has been slow. After the x-mas the daylight hours starts to grow by several minutes every day and that seems to affect to the work progress
Framerails finally done:
Firewall "modification":
LsX test fit
inside... way inside...
new firewall mock up

Cool project!
I like the stance and amount of rubber contact patches with the modern wheels and tires!
Will you use a power adder of some sort? I noticed you are from Finland... correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all the Finnish install turbos on their LS swaps?

A lot of things are still undecided. Wheel and tire combo is probably going to be 15" police steelies with thick rubber, at least for starters.
There would be more than enough space for a small turbo (or two) at the front of the engine The new firewall would also support Eaton or Lysholm type of charger in top of the engine.
We will see. First driving season (this coming summer, hopefully) it will be N/A for sure.
