need help deciding which way to go
I have a built 700R4 trans with 3500 stall so I'd like something with choppy idle but need turn key starts and reliability.
looking for any opinions and advice which direction to go and why?
also the truck is 4wd I see all of the mounts/headers for lsx motors say 2wd only - I don't mind dropping the 4wd out, I don't need it in this truck I've got a new duramax if it snows!
LS Motor mount adapters will work in your truck and the motor will fit with the correct oil pan.
If your happy with your motor now then it may be a better idea to swap in a Holley EFI system on it and be done.
from everything I've read going with a 6.0 or 6.2 is what I think is going to make me happy, give me the power I'm looking for and also the peace of mind if I'm using it or someone else needs to use it, it is going to start every time.
I am not stuck on using my headers - just easier if I could have - mine are like new so I have a lot of value in my current parts once I pull them off
to do the easiest swap I'll need:
motor mounts
new headers
someone to program the ecu or ???
Add to your list:
You will need a 58psi fuel system.
You will need to modify the harness.
You will probably need to modify front and rear driveshaft lengths.
It is out of a 2500HD 4WD - I'll check on transfer case, hopefully so!
by 'modify the harness' would it be easiest to just call one of the guys that do harnesses? I have removed most everything that came with the 91 truck when I swapped out to an carb'd small block..
I have a guy that can do my driveshafts so thats easy too.
